Accessibility guide

Introduction

The Old Liquor Stores is a holiday apartment, situated in a rural village. It is mostly at first floor level, with a downstairs bike and boot room. We have tried to provide as much information as possible in this statement, but if you have any queries please do call.

Pre-arrival

  • Bookings/enquiries can be made via Airbnb, via our website, via e-mail or telephone.
  • The nearest bus stop is approximately 400 metres away in Fountain Square.
  • The closest main line railway stations are Buxton, Chesterfield and Sheffield. The closest local station is Hope.
  • Buses serving the village of Tideswell are the 65, 252 ???? ; contact Traveline 0871 200 22 33 for timetable details.
  • The closest towns by public transport are Bakewell and Buxton.
  • The Co-op mini-market is opposite across Commercial Road. There is a bakery (Tindall’s) 10 metres away, a vegetable shop, butchers and pharmacy approx. 300 metres away.
  • It should be noted that the property may not be suitable for guests who are wheelchair users due to the changes in levels both on the inside and outside of the cottage.
  • With the safety of guests in mind it is suggested that the cottage may only be suitable for guests who have a visual, hearing or mobility impairment if they are accompanied. Regrettably, at the moment we only have standard smoke detectors and are therefore not able to offer the higher level of warning systems (eg flashing or vibrating alarms) on which a guest with such impairments would rely if travelling alone.

Arrival and car parking facilities

  • There is public car parking on the road at the front of the property and a parking area in the Pot Market, opposite the property next to the Coop.
  • The entrance to the courtyard is through a wooden gate and up a gentle cobbled slope.
  • The name of the property is clearly displayed next to the entrance door. It is a slate sign with white lettering.
  • The entrance to the property at the front has two small steps which is ?cm high.
  • The main entrance is lit by an outside light operated from inside the property.
  • There is also a nearby outside light with a movement sensor.
  • The keys for the property will be handed over by the owners, who will personally welcome you to the property, explain how everything works and answer any questions you may have.
  • Please contact the owners to make arrival and departure arrangements. Help can be offered with luggage.

General information

  • The front door is ??cm wide and the keyhole is ??cm high.
    ?? stairs lead from the entrance up to the main living area, and there is a handrail all the way up. As you enter the main door, to the left is a door to the ground floor bike and boot room.
  • The living room and kitchen are open plan. There are ? steps up to a raised landing with a hand rail from which a further step takes you through doors into the shower room and bedroom.
  • There is gas central heating throughout. There is an additional coal effect gas ‘log burner’ stove in the lounge.
  • There is free WIFI and mobile phone reception throughout. O2 and associate carriers has a good signal, stronger signals from other carries may be obtained outside.

Bike and Boot Room

This is at ground floor level, through a door at the bottom of the main staircase.
The door is ?? cm wide.
The floor is wooden.
There are hooks for coats, a rack for boots and bike racks.

Lounge

  • This is at first floor level, up a flight of ?? carpeted stairs with a solid wood handrail.
  • Doorway width between the stairs and the lounge is ??cm.
  • There are two leather settees, a coffee table and several occasional tables.
  • The floor is wooden with a central rug with a non-slip underlay.
  • A smart TV and Bluetooth speakers are provided.
  • There is a ‘woodburning’ gas fire, which is controlled at the base.
    CO alarm fitted (audible only).
  • Smoke alarm???Lighting consists of 2 pendants, LED spotlights and 3 lamps.

Kitchen

  • The level entrance from the lounge to the kitchen is ?? wide with a small, raised threshold strip.
  • The worktop height is standard, approximately 90cm.
  • There is a double oven at ?? height
  • The ceramic hob is at the height of the worktop.
  • Sink is standard height with cupboards underneath.
  • Extractor fan has controls approximately 150cm from the ground.
  • Standard size front loading washing machine is provided.
  • Lighting is LED spot lights on ceiling, with under unit lighting.
  • The worktops are black quartz.
  • An under-counter fridge, freezer and microwave are available.
  • The kitchen table and chairs are moveable. There is free space on three sides of the kitchen table. Height underneath the dining table is ??cm. Kitchen chairs are upright with no arms. Seat height is ??cm.
  • The floor is wooden.
  • A fire extinguisher and fire blanket are provided.

Landing

  • 3? stairs from lounge lead to a carpeted landing. A solid wooden handrail is provided
  • There is one step up into both the bedroom and the toilet/shower room.
  • Smoke alarm fitted (audible only)???

Double bedroom

  • Door width ??cm
  • The bedroom is carpeted.
  • King Size bed provided L??cm W??cm
  • Bed height ??cm floor to top of mattress
  • Non feather duvets and pillows provided
  • Bedside tables are ??cm high
  • Built in wardrobe and shelving with hanging rail ??cm above the floor.

Bathroom

  • The shower is in a clear glass shower cubicle and is thermostatically ?? controlled.
  • There is a grab rail in the shower.
  • Toilet seat height is ??cm.
  • Bathroom flooring is non-slip linoleum.
  • The floor is off-white, the inside of the shower cubicle is black and the walls are white with some black tiling.
  • All Bathroom sanitary ware is white.
  • There is a heated towel rail/ radiator.

Grounds and gardens

  • A small, paved patio area with table and chairs and some plant pots can be accessed via the rear door in the kitchen.
  • Private stone stairs lead to the owners’ garden.

  • The property is no smoking throughout.

  • The nearest General Hospitals with A&E units and walk in NHS are in Chesterfield and Sheffield. There is a minor injuries unit in Buxton. The local surgery is approximately 400 metres away.
